MORE TILLER TRAINING AT EDEN
Date:
6/10/07
For the second time in a week Gladwyne Members traveled to Lancaster County to train on Truck 24. Assistant Chief Dave Howey provided valuable training to all of Gladwyne's Officers and Career Staff. Once we become proficient in driving and operating the tiller we will begin training our members. We have also lined up assistance in training from Eden Volunteers, Willow Grove Volunteers, and Philadelphia Firefighters. More trips to Eden will follow in the near future! Another Big Thanks to Chief Rick Kane and Assistant Chief Dave Howey from Eden for helping us get started....
FINAL INSPECTION OF LADDER 24
Date:
6/9/07
Today members of the ladder committee traveled to KME for the final inspection on Ladder 24. We spent almost 8 hours going over the truck with KME Engineers. During our inspection 5 additional members arrived with Engine 24-1 and Utility 24 to assist in packing the 5 inch in the hose tray to see how it will fit and lay out. We had 1000 feet of 5 inch with room for at least 500 feet more! We did learn a few things and adjustments that needed to be made for easy hose deployment. THANK YOU to Jeff Culbertson, Leith Cunningham, Mike Schwarz, Ken Piree, Blake Caplan and Cowboy for making the trip to help pack the hose and look over the truck! KME will be working this week to clean up a few items that need attention as a result of our inspection and then we will set up the delivery!
FAST & AIR TRUCK ASSIST TO GEORGE CLAY
Date:
6/6/07
Just before 4 pm our neighbors from George Clay were dispatched to Portland Road in West Conshohocken for a building fire. Upon arrival of Quint 39 they discovered a fire on the outside of the building involving gas and electric service. PECO was immediately dispatched along with the building fire upgrade which brings Engine 24-1 as the FAST Team and Air 24 for SCBA replenishment. Gladwyne crews remained on scene until just after 7 pm when the situation was brought under control. Good job by all crews working at the scene.
GLADWYNE MEMBERS TRAVEL TO EDEN FOR TILLER TRAINING
Date:
6/4/07
Early Monday morning Chief Andy Block, Deputy Chief Blaine Leis, and Assistant Chief John Remillard traveled to Eden Volunteer Fire Company in Lancaster County for the first of several training evolutions with the EXCELLENT volunteers of Eden! This was our first introduction to Eden's 100 Pierce Ladder / Tiller / Rescue Truck! We spent all day driving the truck in both seats - "Chauffeur and Tillerman". Thanks also to the Lancaster County Fire Training Academy for letting us use their facility for this important training! A great big thanks to our instructors for the day: Dave Howey Assistant Chief, Mike Minnier Firefighter / Chauffeur, and especially Eden Fire Chief Rick Kane for allowing us this great opportunity. On Sunday June 10 there are 7 members of Gladwyne traveling to Eden for the additional training. Take note of Eden's station number...24!
