GLADWYNE RESPONDS TO HOUSE FIRE
Date: 3/30/07 At 1158 hrs Station 24 assisted by Station 25 was dispatched to a house fire, reported to be in the laundry room. Upon arrival of Engine 24 at the top of the driveway there was heavy black smoke coming from building. Engine 24 proceeded halfway down the driveway and wrapped the 5 inch around a tree so that Engine 24-1 could finish the split lay (2300 feet of 5 inch to the hydrant). Upon arrival at the front of the building there was a large volume of fire inside one of the 1st floor windows. An 1.75" water line was placed into service and knocked the fire down in a laundry room that was 20' x 20'. Assist crews checked above and below the fire that was ultimately contained to the laundry room. THANK YOU to Station 25 full company, Squad 22 (FAST), Engine 26-1 (Extra Engine and Manpower), Narberth Ambulance and George Clay for covering up the Village. A quick knock and efficient teamwork from all kept this fire in check.

LADDER TRUCK UPDATE
Date: 3/28/07 The ladder truck is still in Virginia at KME's Ladder Plant being assembled. As it is a little behind, we are still expecting to see it in Harrisburg at the Fire Expo! They are in the process of mounting all of the compartments onto the frame of the truck and also getting the main ladder mounted. The tiller seat "cab" has just come out of the paint booth as well. More updates soon!

GLADWYNE MEMBERS HANDLE A GAS LEAK
Date: 3/12/07 Just before 3pm today a contractor struck a 2 inch medium pressure gas line that was next to the residence in the 700 block of Dodds Lane. Gladwyne members assisted PECO and evaluated the inside of the residence for any lingering gas. Units cleared the scene in just under one hour.

GLADWYNE FIREFIGHTERS RECEIVE HEROISM AWARDS AND UNIT CITATIONS
  
Date: 3/7/07 On August 29th, 2006 during a major rain storm that caused flooding throughout the Township Gladwyne Firefighters were called to the Righters Mill Road Ford (Mill Creek Runs over the roadway) to rescue a motorist who was stuck in the rapid moving flood water. Firefighters Jeffrey Culbertson, James Magnatta and Assistant Chief John Remillard immediately went into service with the support of the rest of the firefighters who were assigned various other jobs in order to accomplish the rescue. After a successful rescue, Chief Andy Block submitted the names of all of the firefighters who participated in the rescue to the Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners who last night awarded the following:

GLADWYNE FULL COMPANY ASSISTS CONSHOHOCKEN FIRE DEPARTMENT
Date: 3/10/07 Just before midnight Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched "Full Company" to assist our Neighbors in Conshohocken with alarge warehouse fire at 110 Washington Street. Gladwyne Firefighters assisted with roof operations and overhaul during the fire, provided lighting and filling air cylinders, and finished off the night by helping to pack hose! Gladwyne Firefighters returned back to Gladwyne just before 0500 hrs. Thanks to Penn Wynne Fire Company for providing the cover up in the village.
