GLADWYNE ASSISTS BRYN MAWR AND ARDMORE
IN AN EARLY MORNING FIRE
Date: 1/20/07 Shortly before 6 am on Saturday Morning, Bryn Mawr Fire Company was dispatched to Floyd Terrace for a House Fire. An upgrade was quickly called for brining, Ardmore Full Company, Gladwyne for Air 24 and Engine 24-1, and Rescue 21 as the FAST Team. Chief 23 (Gallagher) quickly added Engine 24 to the assignment as well. Bryn Mawr's first in crew performed an aggressive-interior attack, keeping the fire from spreading into the adjoining houses. Air 24 filled air cylinders and provided lighting, Engine 24-1's crew assisted with a multitude of assignments throughout the fire, and Engine 24 was ultimately sent to Station 23 to cover their district until they were able to get cleaned up. An EXCELLENT JOB by the Bryn Mawr Fire Company and all the other companies who assisted! Photo by Thomas C Hayden Jr.

HAZ MAT OPERATIONS REFRESHER
Date: 1/17/07 Another year has passed and Gladwyne held our annual Hazardous Materials Operations Re-certification Class. This class is required (5.5 hours) every year after the initial class (24 hours) to keep the certificate valid. Every year our fellow brothers and sisters from the other Lower Merion / Narberth Companies join us in this class. This year as in every year Bucks County Fire Academy Instructor Doug Wilhelm taught the class and did an excellent job as usual. Dinner was also served during class, we had Chicken, Caesar Salad, and twice baked potatoes from the Guard House! 55 members took the class! Thanks to all of our friends from Penn Wynne, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Narberth, and Bala Cynwyd who joined us in training!

HEATER FIRE IN THE WEST END OF GLADWYNE
Date: 1/10/07 Shortly before 0930 hours, Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to Woodmont Road for a Building Fire. Bryn Mawr Fire Company was dispatched to assist with a report that the homeowner found his heater on fire and the house was filling up with smoke. Upon arrival of Engine 24 and Ladder 23 crews found the homeowner had extinguished the fire and needed assistance removing the smoke from the building. Crews worked for 30 minutes removing the smoke and ensuring there was no further fire around the heater. Thanks to Bryn Mawr for the assist! Photos by Thomas C. Hayden Jr.

GLADWYNE RESPONDS ON VEHICLE ACCIDENT
Date: 1/9/07 Just before 5 pm Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to Conshohocken State Road and Barr Lane for a Vehicle Fire after an accident. Upon arrival of Engine 24 crews found a two vehicle accident spread across both lanes of traffic, with one vehicle smoking from the engine compartment. All occupants were already out of the vehicle. Crews split and attended to the injured and secured both vehicles by disconnecting the batteries, placing wheel chocks, and spreading oil dry to keep the fluids from running into the storm drains. Crews remained on scene to assist Narberth Ambulance and Lower Merion Police for just over 30 mins. Photos by Thomas C Hayden Jr.

BUSY START TO 2007
Date: 1/3/07 Gladwyne Firefighters have been busy over the last 36 hours handling 4 fire calls and an 8 hour cover up in Upper Merion. The first fire call for Gladwyne came in around 0530 on Tuesday morning to assist Cynwyd and Belmont Hills with the air truck at a Train derailment. Tuesday night, Gladwyne Firefighters traveled to King of Prussia Fire Company to provide a stand by crew while they were busy honoring one of their own firefighters and leaders who died as a result of a house fire in is own home. While on stand by the Engine Crew joined many fellow brothers and sisters paying respect at the viewing. On Wednesday Gladwyne Firefighters responded to a brush fire, fire alarm, and a van fire behind the Gladwyne Pharmacy. Gladwyne members will finish off Wednesday with our weekly training drill in Penn Valley.
