CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Date: 10/25/06

The footers are in! This photo provides a good view of what the basic layout will be for the new engine bay and the rear addition. (This photo is actually two photos merged together, so there is some distortion. Rest assured that all lines are straight and true!) Both doors on the rear wall of the existing engine have been removed and lintels have been installed for the walk-through points between the old and new additions.

The firefighters, both career and volunteers are coping well with all the construction and the temporary loss of space. Stay tuned for further updates.

NO HAUNTED HOUSE THIS YEAR
Date: 10/19/06 Due to extensive building construction, we regret to inform the community that we will be unable to hold our annual Haunted House! Please remember to be SAFE while out trick or treating and when we change our clocks back an hour, also change your smoke detector batteries. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES!
Date: 10/10/06 Here are a couple of pictures from the progress at the firehouse! Picture #1 is the beginning of the new entrance for the training / meeting room. Picture #2 is taken from the middle of the Active Members Room looking back at the operations office and the storage closet (both of which have been removed). Note the blocked up doorway on the wall - For the young guys who do not know what that was, it was the original doorway to the engine room from the paid-mans room (when it was in the candy room). Picture # 3 is also from the Active Members Room, but if you look closely you can see what used to be the Engine Bay Door Ways! Look above the window and the door and you will find the old headers that were at the top of the doors! Picture # 4 is looking out of the back of the current Engine bay into the parking lot, which will soon be a Gear Cleaning room, weight room, radio room, workshop, and lobby! More photo's soon!

NEW AIR PACK TRAINING
Date: 10/3/06 Tonight Gladwyne Firefighters finished up our training on the new airpacks that the Lower Merion Township Relief Association purchased for each Township Company. The new airpacks are MSA 4500 psi Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. Each member has to demonstrate competency when utilizing the airpacks along with an official fit testing to ensure the proper mask size. The new airpacks will be going into service in the near future.

WORKING FIRE IN ARDMORE
Date: 10/1/06 At 0146 hrs Ardmore Fire Company was dispatched to the area of Drexel and St. Pauls Road for heavy smoke in the area. Before the dispatch was over County Dispatch upgraded the call to a Working House Fire in the 100 Block of Drexel Road. The upgrade included, Station 23, Station 21 and Engine 24-1 (FAST) and Air 24 (Cascade & Lights). Upon arrival of the Gladwyne Firefighters the FAST team staging area was in front of Ladder 25 and Air 24 set up lighting on all sides of the fire building. As the fire progressed 25 Command requested another FAST team and placed Engine 24-1 into firefighting operations. Gladwyne Firefighters assisted Ardmore throughout the night. While we were assisting our neighbors, Berwyn Fire Company stood by in Gladwyne to protect the Village!
