GLADWYNE'S TILLER CAB IS HEADED TO THE PAINT BOOTH
Date: 9/30/06 It is official! The new ladder truck is started! The cab was completed this week and is headed to the paint booth this coming week! In case you have not heard, the truck is a 2006 KME 100 foot Aerial Cat Tractor Drawn Ladder Truck! Our truck has 350 gallons of water on board and a Class A pump! We are VERY excited about our new truck and look forward to its delivery in the Spring of 2007! Check back soon for more pictures.

ACCIDENT SPARKS ELECTRICAL FIRE
Date: 9/24/06 Gladwyne Fire Company was dispatched for a electrical fire after an accident. Firefighters found a truck towing a trailer filled with pesticides, had jacked-knifed, snapping a utility pole. 13,200 volt wires repeatedly shorted, causing several trees to catch fire. Firefighters stood by until PECO was able to shut the power down. The fire was then extinguished. Assistant Chief McLean had command.

2 ASSISTS IN 8 HOURS!
Date: 9/23/06 Gladwyne Firefighters have been busy assisting our neighbors today! Early this morning at 0400 hrs, George Clay Fire Company of West Conshohocken was dispatched to a fire alarm just down the street from their fire house. Upon arrival they found a fire inside a house, they requested AIR 24 and ENGINE 24-1 to assist with AIR/LIGHTS and FAST Team. Upon arrival crew stood by and also filled a few air cylinders. A second call for assistance came just after lunch time from Bryn Mawr Fire Company who was dispatched to a kitchen fire in the 200 block of Curwen Road in Villanova. Bryn Mawr firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, while Gladwyne firefighters filled air cylinders, assisted with salvage and overhaul and clean up.

GLADWYNE FIREFIGHTERS REMEMBER THE VICTIMS OF 9/11
Date: 9/11/06 Today marks the 5 year anniversary of the horrible 9/11 attacks! As firefighters we lost 343 brothers and sisters in this gutless act of terrorism. Today we pay tribute to our brothers and sisters, innocent civilians, and military personnel who are out defending the United States of America! During the day, there was a memorial set up in front of the firehouse (which community members stopped and placed flowers at) and tonight we joined all of the other township fire companies at Bryn Mawr Fire Company for a beautiful tribute to all the emergency service workers who lost their lives 5 years ago. Thank YOU to Bryn Mawr Fire Company for hosting such a tribute!

CONGRATULATIONS DEPUTY CHIEF AL BROWN
Date: 9/6/06 Lower Merion Township Deputy Fire Chief Al Brown was recognized at the Board of Commisioners meeting for his 50 year anniversary in the Fire Service. Chief Brown was a Philadelphia Firefighter and Chief Officer prior to coming to Lower Merion many years ago! Chief Brown has always provided excellent mentorship to the young officers of the many companies that make up the Lower Merion Township Fire Department! CONGRATULATIONS CHIEF BROWN! From your friends in Gladwyne.

BASIC WATER RESCUE DRILL
Date: 9/6/06 Tonight members from Gladwyne Fire Company, Narberth Ambulance, and Belmont Hills Fire Company all gathered at the Flat Rock Park for a Basic Water Rescue drill. All members were instructed on the proper safety equipment needed for water rescues, how effectively use a rope throw bag, and how to immobilize a victim in the water. It was great to work with the ambulance and our neighbors from Belmont Hills.

IT'S OFFICIAL!
Date: 9/6/06 The official GROUNDBREAKING started today! Construction began today and started to dig the side yard out for the building expansion and new driveway. All members please use extreme caution when responding to fire calls as the parking lot is being dug up and used for constructionmaterials! When coming to the firehouse, please park in the side lot or in the lower Church lot across the street (EXCEPT on Saturday nights and Sunday's when church is in session). Please check back weekly for updates on the building project!

HOUSE FIRE ASSIST TO BRYN MAWR
Date: 9/2/06 At 1234 hrs Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist Bryn Mawr Fire Company at a House Fire on Mount Pleasant Road in Villanova. Upon arrival crews found fire coming from a third floor window. Crews stretched a handline up into the attic and extinguished the fire quickly. Additional crews were used to check for extension on the second floor under the fire, while other crews were securing the homeowners belongings so they were not ruined by the water or overhaul process. Special thanks to Penn Wynne Fire Company for the engine cover up while we were in service at the fire.
