MEMORIAL DAY
Date: 5/29/06 Gladwyne Firefighters traveled to Ardmore for the annual Memorial Day Parade. Once the Ardmore Parade was completed, we invited all of the Lower Merion Township Fire Companies and Narberth Ambulance to participate in the Annual Gladwyne Memorial Day Parade. Gladwyne Firefighters marched proudly through the parade route and were greeted with an exceptional applause from the community! We are PROUD to serve as firefighters for the Gladwyne Community! After all of the parades, we all changed into picnic clothes and enjoyed a great afternoon of food and fun.

FISH LADDER DRILL AT FLAT ROCK DAM
Date: 5/24/06 Today Gladwyne Firefighters were instructed on the use and operations of the newly constructed fish ladder located at the Flat Rock Dam. Fish and Game Commission officials along with DEP representatives were on hand to show us how to operate the gates that shut flow off to the ladder. This evening for drill we had an informal walk through of the fish ladder so that all of our members can be familiar with the ladder and how to operate it, just in case somebody does need rescued from the fish ladder. We also evaluated the emergency boat ramp that was installed by the request of the fire company to allow us easy and efficient access to below the dam. After drill, we traveled to Cold Stone Creamery in Ardmore for ice cream.

Special THANKS goes out to the following members for their extra hard work in preperation for the parade: Jeff Culbertson, Mike Schwarz, Mike Newell, Jamie Stebbins, Leith Cunningham, John Robb, Jack Anderson, AJ Malloy and Alan David (who may have worked a little too hard!). We wish Alan the best as he recovers in the hospital.

ANOTHER GLADWYNE MEMBER HOSPITALIZED
Date: 5/6/06 Long time volunteer firefighter, Alan David, suddenly took ill on Friday while he was cleaning the apparatus in preperation for the Radnor Fire Company parade, and was taken to the hospital by Narberth Ambulance. Alan is currently recuperating at Lankenau Hospital and we want to wish him a speedy recovery and we look forward to him returning to the fire brigade!

FAREWELL TO JARROD!
Date: 5/3/06 Tonight, one of our dedicated volunteers had to say goodbye to his Gladwyne Family! Jarrod Gieniec, is moving out of the area and had to turn in his resignation. We are sad to see one of our brothers leaving us, but we would like to wish Jarrod the best in the future, and remind him that he is always welcome in our house! Jarrod was given his firefighting helmet so that he can remember us at the 24 house! GOOD LUCK JARROD!

SPECIAL DRILL WITH GUEST INSTRUCTORS
Date: 5/3/06

Our Wednesday night drill this week brought in 4 very experienced Philadelphia Firefighters to participate in drill and help us to enhance our skills. At the start of the drill, Gladwyne Firefighters were issued a 30 foot piece of webbing that was utilized during the training to assist with the removal of trapped or injured firefighters. Other scenarios included hoseline operations, ventilation practices, and using tag lines with mechanical advantages to remove firefighters from a basement scenario. After drill, we all returned to the firehouse for pizza and cheesesteaks. We also surprised Chief Andy Block with a birthday cake!

We would like to THANK Jon Riggs (Ladder 6), Brian Booth (Squad 47), Mike Polek (Ladder 1), and Lieutenant Mike Jackson (Engine 51) for participating in our drill night, having dinner with us, and most importantly helping us to better our firefighting skills! You gentlemen are welcome in our station anytime...
